FAQ > What is a verdict?

A verdict is the decision of the jury. In a criminal case the jury must decide unanimously. That means all of the jurors must agree that the defendant is either guilty or not guilty. If even one juror disagrees there can be no verdict. When this happens the judge will have to end the trial and a new jury is selected to start the whole trial process over again.
