FAQ > What is a no-contest plea?

A no-contest plea, also known as a nolo-contendere, is a plea where the defendant admits no guilt, but also takes no blame for the charge. Basically, you're not contesting (or challenging) the accusation. However, you're also not saying you did it. By neither admitting not disputing the charge, the defendant agrees to take a punishment without taking culpability.
